BSP Library Facilities
The BSP operates a library mainly to service the research needs of the BSP management and staff. However, as a special public service, its collections of BSP publications are made available to the public.
The BSP Library is located at Room 417, Five-Storey Bldg., BSP Complex, Manila. It is open during regular banking days from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. for BSP personnel and 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to the public.
The Library Collection
The library has a total number of 45,000 volumes including books, periodicals and other resources. The library’s core collection supports the Bank’s research needs. As such, it has built up a comprehensive collection covering subjects on general economics, international economics, monetary economics, banks and banking, business and finance, fiscal theory and institutions, urban and regional economics, manpower, accounting, management and general works.
A. General Collection
This collection includes local and foreign books, monographs, theses, dissertations, conference papers and proceedings. These were either purchased by the Library or given as complimentary copies or donations from different institutions like the World Bank (WB), the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the United Nations (UN) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
B. Serials
This collection provides most current information on a variety of subjects, particularly on economics and business. Comprising this collection are local and foreign scholarly journals and general periodicals, as well as magazines, newspapers and annual reports, which the BSP has subscribed to and those given on a complimentary basis by other agencies.
C. Maps and Microfilm
The map collection includes map of the Philippines, map of the world, geographical map, and economic map by region and one globe. The microfilm collection has a total of 284 reels of leading local newspapers like Philippine Daily Inquirer, Manila Bulletin, The Philippine Star and Malaya from 1980 to 2006.
D. References
Reference collections are local and foreign dictionaries, encyclopedia, directories, handbooks, manuals, atlases and almanacs.
E. Documents
The library receives manuscripts such as working papers, annual reports, staff paper and special publications from the WB, IMF, UN, ADB and other international and regional institutions.
F. Electronic Resources 1
The library also subscribes to online resources, including the JSTOR Archives, IMF International Financial Statistics, E-Gale CENGAGE and Academic One File. It also has a collection of e-books as well as CD-ROM databases of the Lex Libris collection of BSP issuances and Philippine laws.
