We are pleased to announce that the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas will host the 2010 Central Bank Macroeconomic Modeling Workshop on 19-20 October 2010. This Workshop seeks to foster and discuss new developments in macroeconomic modeling at central banks and other policymaking institutions. As in previous Workshops, we will bring together central bank researchers and model builders as well as academic researchers from around the world to present papers and discuss work on modeling at their institutions. Workshop Theme: The theme for this year's Workshop will be "DSGE Models for Emerging Market Economies". Emerging markets exhibit characteristics intrinsic to their state and pace of development. These include relatively less developed financial markets, dependence on remittance flows, exposure to swings in commodity prices, large informal sectors, less mature institutions and rigidities in the labor market. Insights into the performance of DSGE models in terms of forecasting and simulation analysis under these conditions would be useful. The organizing committee will give priority to policy-oriented research on the main theme. However, other papers on central bank modeling will be welcome. Submission of Papers: Those interested in presenting their research work during the Workshop are requested to submit a draft paper or a two-page proposal to the Technical Secretariat. The proposal should include the title of the paper, the author(s)' affiliation and contact information, the main issues to be examined, the relevant literature, the intended contribution of the paper to the literature, and data sets and methodology to be employed. Authors are also requested to provide a brief curriculum vitae. Prospective contributors are requested to submit draft papers to secretariat.mpss@bsp.gov.ph on or before 30 June 2010. Notification of paper acceptance will be made by 30 July 2010. Timetable:
Other information: Further information about the Workshop will be posted on the BSP website at http://www.bsp.gov.ph. The BSP will cover all workshop costs and as usual, there will be no participation fee. As in previous workshops, travel, accommodation, meals and other related costs will be borne by the participant. For any inquiry about the Workshop, please contact: The BSP Technical Secretariat
