The Philippine Statistical System (PSS), spearheaded by the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB), is now preparing for the 12th National Convention on Statistics (NCS) slated in October 2013. The NCS, conducted every three years, aims to a) provide a forum for exchanging ideas and experiences in the field of statistics and for discussing recent statistical developments and prevailing issues and problems of the PSS; and (b) elicit the cooperation and support of statisticians and professionals in related fields from the government, academe, private sector, and civil society towards a more responsive statistical system.
The upcoming 12th NCS will again bring together statisticians, statistical practitioners, and data users from all over the country to discuss recent theoretical developments in statistics and creative ideas designed to improve statistics in the country as well as share their views and recommendations to further enhance the PSS. The convention hopes to further build statistical capacity in the country.
The PSS is now calling on practitioners, theoreticians and researchers in the statistical and related fields to present papers in the convention. Guidelines on the sessions, topics, and the format of the papers will soon be disseminated and posted ion the NCS web page (http://www.nscb.gov.ph/ncs/12thNCS/)
