BSP Governor Gets A- Report Card as Central Banker

09.22.2006

Bangko Sentral Governor Amando M Tetangco Jr. (right) receives his certificate as one of the world’s top six central bankers from Joseph Giarraputo, Global Finance Publisher and President. He received an A- grade, on his first year at the helm of the Bank, for wielding monetary tools to contain inflation without strangling growth that would create more jobs and wealth. The report card reflects the results of an annual survey of Global Finance, a New York-based business magazine, where central bankers are evaluated on their performance and effectiveness in utilizing monetary tools while steering their country’s economy. Four governors received A ratings (Norway, Taiwan, Malaysia and South Africa) while Chile and Governor Tetangco both received A- ratings.
