04.13.2007

Bangko Sentral Governor Amando Tetangco, Jr. (center) and Education Secretary Jesli Lapus (second from left) shake hands after the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement to incorporate into the elementary curriculum lessons in saving and money management to transform elementary students into net savers. Teaching the values of pagka-masinop (prudence/avoiding waste),  pagka-matipid (thrift), and pag-iimpok (saving) will be part of the program. Looking on is former Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Dr. Cielito Habito (fourth from left) who heads the Economic Policy Reform and Advocacy Group, a partner of the Bangko Sentral and the Department of Education in the program.
