BSP-DepEd Coin Program Raises P16 M for Public Schools

Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Governor Amando Tetangco, Jr. (second from left) turned over P5.4 million in checks representing collections from the “Tulong Barya para sa Eskwela” campaign to Department of Education Assistant Secretary Reynaldo Laguda (third from left). A joint program of the BSP and the DepEd, “Tulong Barya" has raised over P16 million in coin donations for public elementary schools. It is one of the activities under BSP's National Coin Recirculation Program which advocates regular use of coins. Over 16 billion pieces of coins in various denominations worth P18 billion are circulating in the country today.
