Bangko Sentral's Rizal Exhibit Open to the Public During Long Holiday

06.17.2011

The Bangko Sentral ng Pillipinas (BSP) exhibit, "Rizal in Our Midst: A Homage to Greatness," is open for public viewing on June 18 to 20 (Saturday-Monday) from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. The exhibition is at the lobby of the Five-Story Building in the BSP Complex along Mabini St., Malate, Manila.

The exhibit pays tribute to the national hero, whose 150th birth anniversary is on Sunday, June 19, by showcasing the Philippine banknotes and coins where the image of Rizal or his monument appears since 1903.

Denominations bearing Rizal's image range from five centavos to 100 pesos. Today, Rizal is on the one-piso coin.

BSP Governor Amando M. Tetangco, Jr. and the national hero's descendants led the exhibit's ribbon cutting rites on June 10.

On June 19, the BSP will also launch a commemorative medal bearing Rizal's image, his signature and his handwritten phrase "Adios Patria Adorada."

For other details, please call the BSP Officer of the Day at 524 - 7011 local 2243.
