09.08.2011

The BSP will inaugurate its new office building in Zamboanga City, the sixth branch constructed using the new design of BSP buildings, on 15 September 2011. The program will commence at 10:00 a.m. with ribbon-cutting and marker unveiling ceremonies to be led by BSP Governor Amando M. Tetangco, Jr. together with other members of the BSP Monetary Board, Zamboanga del Sur Governor Antonio H. Cerilles, Zamboanga City 1st District Congresswoman Maria Isabelle G. Climaco, Zamboanga City 2nd District Congressman Erico Basilio A. Fabian, and Zamboanga City Mayor Celso L. Lobregat. The building structure will be blessed by Most Reverend Romulo G. Valles, D.D., Archbishop of the Diocese of Zamboanga City.

In the same event, BSP will hold the Awarding Ceremony for BSP Stakeholders in Region IX to give recognition to partners who have provided exemplary support to the BSP's statistical undertakings and advocacies. There are three (3) awardees from the said region, namely, ZC Integrated Port Services, Inc., Myler Agribusiness Inc., and Bureau of Agricultural Statistics Region IX. They will receive the Outstanding Respondent among Large and Medium Firms, Outstanding Respondent among Small Firms, and Information Sources for the Report on Regional Economic Development (Region IX) awards, respectively.

From 15-17 September 2011, the BSP will also conduct a series of activities under its Economic and Financial Learning Program (BSP-EFLP). The BSP-EFLP consolidates the outreach educational activities of the BSP under one flagship program.  It consists of a series of learning sessions and activities which aim to promote greater awareness and understanding of essential economic and financial issues. This is expected to help the people make wise financial decisions. The BSP-EFLP also embodies the goal of the BSP to promote economic and financial education among its stakeholders, who can then be its more effective partner in maintaining the effectiveness of monetary policy as well as in ensuring a stronger and safer banking and payments system.

Specifically, the following component programs of the BSP-EFLP will be conducted in Garden Orchid Hotel, Zamboanga City:
