President Benigno S. Aquino III has appointed lawyer and career central banker Armando L. Suratos as a member of the Monetary Board of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas. Monetary Board Chairman and Governor Amando M. Tetangco, Jr. administered the oath of office of Atty. Suratos, whose appointment completes the seven-member MB. MB Member Suratos served for 39 years as a career central banker and was Deputy Governor in charge of the Resource Management Sector when he retired last December. Other members of the MB are Finance Secretary Cesar V. Purisima, Peter B. Favila, Ignacio R. Bunye, Alfredo C. Antonio and Felipe M. Medalla.
