IMF's Regional Economic Outlook for Asia and Pacific Launched in Manila

10.27.2011

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) launched the October 2011 Regional Economic Outlook (REO) for Asia and Pacific on 17 October 2011 at the BSP Assembly Hall. The report contains the assessment of the IMF on recent economic developments and outlook, as well as policy challenges, in Asia and the Pacific region. A primary focus is the discussion on how to build a sustainable and inclusive growth in the Asian region. The event featured two sessions on these themes with presentations from IMF senior officials led by Dr. Anoop Singh and Dr. Vivek Arora, Director and Assistant Director of the Asia and Pacific Department, respectively. BSP Governor Amando M. Tetangco, Jr., in his opening statement said the report touches on important policy prescriptions which economies in the region should take seriously. As uncertainties linger, economic prospects will always be challenged. The REO report titled, Navigating an Uncertain Global Environment While Building Inclusive Growth, is available for download in the IMF website.
