8th ASEAN Central Bank Governors’ Meeting

The 8th ASEAN Central Bank Governors’ Meeting (ACGM) was held on 29 March 2012 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, which was attended by the ten (10) ASEANa Central Bank Governors, including the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Governor Amando M. Tetangco, Jr. The ACGM is an annual forum which provides Central Bank Governors with a venue to discuss regional economic developments and progress of initiatives to support financial integration in the ASEAN region.
The Governors exchanged views on the global and regional economic development and challenges for central banks after the global financial crisis. The Governors welcomed the progress of work towards ASEAN and ASEAN+3b financial integration. The Governors also endorsed the publication of the report entitled “The Road to ASEAN Financial Integration”, which provides a concise assessment of the financial landscape and proposes a framework towards financial integration in ASEAN in support of the goals of the ASEAN Economic Community 2015.
The Philippines will host the ASEAN+3 Finance Ministers’ Meeting (AFMM+3) in May 2012 at the sidelines of the 45th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Development Bank. Said meeting will, for the first time, involve the participation of the Governors of the ASEAN+3 central banks.
