The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) will award tomorrow (Friday, July 8) the biggest corporate contributors to the country’s foreign exchange inflows and the best respondents to its surveys and regular data monitoring.
BSP Governor Amando M. Tetangco, Jr. said the BSP Awards are in recognition of the significant contribution to the economy of the top foreign exchange earners and of the importance of receiving timely and accurate data from the private sector that guide BSP’s policy decisions.
In particular, BSP will award top banks and exporters in terms of foreign exchange remittance and earnings, respectively. On the other hand, awards will be given to top respondents for the BSP’s Business Expectations Survey; Cross Border Transactions Survey; Survey on Foreign Direct Investments and Related Data; and International Transaction Reports. A special award will also be given to an outstanding individual who have played a major role in supporting BSP’s advocacy for sustaining long-term growth in the country’s foreign exchange inflows.
The Monetary Board, the BSP’s policy-making body, approved the criteria for the awards. Monetary Board Member Raul Boncan headed the Board of Judges as Chairman.
The awarding ceremonies, to be held at the BSP Head Office in Manila starting at 10 a.m., .is part of the week-long celebration of the BSP’s 12th anniversary.
