BSP Holds the 2012 Awards Ceremony and Appreciation Lunch for Stakeholders in Zamboanga City

09.13.2012

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) will host the 2012 Awards Ceremony and Appreciation Lunch for stakeholders in Region IX that have provided exemplary support to its statistical undertakings, information needs and advocacy programs.  The event will be held on 18 September 2012 from 10:00 a.m. to  1:00 p.m. at the BSP Zamboanga Branch, Zamboanga City with the theme “Shared Goals, Shared Responsibilities and Valued Partnerships.”

The BSP will give three awards—two for the Business Expectations Survey (BES) respondents and one for the Information Sources for the Report on Regional Economic Developments.  The Outstanding Respondent among Large and Medium Firms and the Outstanding Respondent among Small Firms will be given to the BES awardees in Region IX. They were selected from among the 27 qualified top corporations in the region that were respondents to the survey in 2011. Meanwhile, the Recognition for Information Sources in generating the Report on Regional Economic Developments will be given to the government agency that provided the BSP with information support to have an effective scan of the environment in Region IX.  Monetary Board Member Felipe M. Medalla will lead the awards ceremony.

Stakeholders of the BSP in the National Capital Region were earlier recognized during the awards ceremony held last 4 July 2012 at the BSP Main Office.  The event in Zamboanga City is the eighth in the series of the BSP’s regional stakeholders’ events following the awards ceremonies held in Regions III, IV, V, VI, VII, XI, and XII from 11 July to 4 September 2012.  The last leg of these activities will be conducted on 25 September 2012 in La Union to honor stakeholders in various awards categories.  These categories include the Outstanding Respondents for the Business Expectations Survey, Best Respondents for the Cross Border Transactions Survey, Recognition for Financial Learning Campaign Partners, Information Sources for the Report on Regional Economic Developments, Financial Inclusion Champion and the Pagtugon Award for Rural and Cooperative Banks, a new award category for exemplary responsiveness to public queries on banking and financial services.

This event is expected to further strengthen the partnership between the BSP and its stakeholders in information gathering and advocacy campaigns that will help the BSP carry out its mandate of maintaining price stability and promoting financial stability as well as ensuring an effective payments and settlements system in the country.
