Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor Amando Tetangco Jr. (left) and Department of Education Undersecretary Yolanda Quijano (right) led the awarding ceremony for the country's top financial education teachers who teach saving, money management and entrepreneurship to elementary students. The teachers follow the teaching guides developed jointly by the DepEd and the BSP for integration into the public elementary education curriculum from Grade I to Grade VI through three entry subjects: Social Studies, Values Education and Home Economics & Entrepreneurship. The 2012 National Winners are (from left) Violeta Roson of F. Benitez Elementary School in Makati for Social Studies; Lynie Maria Amboni of Baguio Central Elementary School in Davao City and Evelyn Balunsay of Aurora A Quezon Elementary School in Manila for Values Education; and May Villanueva of Sta. Rosa Elementary School in Laguna for Home Economics & Entrepreneurship. Each national winner received a cash prize of P100,000.00 and a medallion, while the schools they represent were awarded a computer set with printer. On the other hand, the cash prize for area awardees is P50,000.00 each. Area awardees for Social Studies are Juana Nimfa Abrigo of Alaminos Central School in Laguna for Luzon; Mae Pangantihon of Sta. Barbara Elementary School in Iloilo City for Visayas; and Annie Jamero of Doña Asuncion Hizon Elementary School in Davao City for Mindanao. For Home Economics & Entrepreneurship, the area awardees are Nida Azaña of Aurora A. Quezon Elementary School in Malate, Manila for NCR and Zelda Arceno of Malaybalay City Central School in Bukidnon for Mindanao.
