Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Governor Amando Tetangco, Jr. (center) presents to former Chief Justice Reynato Puno (5th from left) a copy of the “Special Banking Laws Annotated,” the third in a series of law books on Banking Laws of the Philippines published by the BSP. In his foreword, the former Chief Justice said the book gives the public easy access to our scattered banking laws and to annotations that are reader friendly, as written by the BSP's in-house lawyers. The third book covers laws that govern financial institutions such as thrift, rural and cooperative banks as well as non-stock savings and loan associations. Equally important are annotations to laws on the rights and protection of financial consumers, borrowers and depositors. The book completes the three-volume series on Philippine banking laws: the first is “The New Central Bank Act Annotated” while the second is “The General Banking Law Annotated.” The books are now on sale at the BSP. Present at the launching were (from left): Monetary Board Members Armando Suratos and Ignacio Bunye, Jr., Deputy Governor Juan De Zuñiga who headed the BSP's legal team behind the books, Monetary Board Member Felipe Medalla, and Deputy Governor Diwa Guinigundo.
