Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Governor Amando M. Tetangco, Jr. (center) received an honorary doctorate in Public Administration from the Holy Angel University (HAU) in Angeles City, Pampanga last week (Friday, March 7) through HAU President Dr. Arlyn S. The award was given in recognition of the Governor’s leadership and skill in controlling inflation, in stabilizing the currency, in managing interest rates and steering the country through “wave after wave of global financial crises.” Former DOTC Secretary and member of the HAU Board of Trustees Jose P. de Jesus said Governor Tetangco’s successful leadership at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas ranks him among the world’s best central bank governors and he has brought its benefits all the way down to the grassroots level. In the process, he has raised the bar of integrity and credibility in public service, de Jesus said. Governor Tetangco marks his 40th year of service as a career central banker this year. He studied AB Economics at the Ateneo de Manila University where he graduated cum laude. He received his master’s degree in public policy and administration from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the US.
