Advisory on the 100-Piso Banknotes

11.21.2005

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas today advised the public that it had received a batch of 100-piso banknotes bearing the misspelled surname of the President, a small number of which had been released. The BSP has apologized to the President over the incident.

Nevertheless, in accordance with policy, these 100-piso banknotes that have been issued by BSP are considered legal tender and should be accepted as genuine currency. The printing of these banknotes had been outsourced to ensure sufficient supply of 100-piso banknotes during the Christmas season.
