The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) will inaugurate its new branch in Butuan City, the 19th branch overall and sixth branch in Mindanao, on 26 November 2014. The BSP Butuan Branch will serve 208 banks in the CARAGA Region (Region XIII), including 44 banks in Butuan City.
The program will commence at 10:00 a.m. with ribbon-cutting and marker-unveiling ceremonies to be led by BSP Governor Amando M. Tetangco, Jr. together with other members of the BSP Monetary Board, Agusan del Norte Governor Maria Angelica R. Amante-Matba, Butuan City Mayor Ferdinand M. Amante, Jr., Representative Lawrence Lemuel H. Fortun, and former Representative Jose Rufino S. Aquino II. The building structure will be blessed by Most Reverend Juan de Dios M. Pueblos, Bishop of Butuan City.
In the same event, the Economic and Financial Learning Center (EFLC) in the Butuan Branch will be launched. The EFLC is the focal point of contact of the public of information concerning economic and financial matters. The BSP Monetary Board will also host a dinner reception for the Butuan and Surigao Bankers Clubs banking community on 26 November 2014 at the Almont Inland Resort Hotel, Butuan City.
The following day, 27 November 2014, the BSP, in partnership with the Provincial Government of Agusan del Norte, will launch the Agusan del Norte Credit Surety Fund (CSF) and the Butuan City CSF. The CSF is a credit enhancement scheme designed to increase the creditworthiness of cooperatives, capital-short businessmen and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) that are encountering difficulties in getting access to bank credit due to lack of acceptable collaterals and credit information.
