BSP to Host the 2014 BSP-UP Professorial Chair Lectures, Part 2

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) will host the 2014 BSP-UP Professorial Chair Lectures,    Part 2 on 26 November 2014 at the Executive Business Center, BSP Main Complex, Malate, Manila. 

The Professorial Chair Lectures provide the opportunity for chairholders to present their research, and for the participants to discuss important issues in economics, statistics, business administration, finance, accounting, agriculture and other related fields as part of the collaboration between the BSP and the academe.

For this occasion, BSP Assistant Governor Ma. Cyd N. Tuaño-Amador will welcome the guests and participants while the Dean of UP School of Economics, Dr. Ramon L. Clarete, will deliver the opening remarks.

Four lectures will be delivered:

  1. Employment Effects of ASEAN Integration in the Philippines

    By Dr. Cayetano W. Paderanga, Jr., BSP UP Centennial Professor of Money and Banking

Former Prime Minister Cesar E.A. Virata will be the luncheon speaker of the event.  Dr. Virata was Prime Minister and Finance Minister from 1981 to 1986 and is the country’s longest serving minister of finance.  He also headed the National Economic and Development Authority while serving as the Prime Minister.  Prior to assuming leadership positions in the government service, he was a professor and dean of the College of Business Administration at the University of the Philippines.  He is currently the Corporate Vice Chairman and Director of the Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation.

The lectures will be attended by invited participants from the academe, government agencies, and private institutions as well as BSP officials and staff.
