The best finance educators for saving, money management, and entrepreneurship in public elementary schools were honored yesterday by the Department of Education (DepEd) and Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP). The 2014 GURO ng PAG-ASA (Gantimpala para sa Ulirang PagtutuRO ng PAG-iimpok at Araling PanSAlapi) awarding ceremony was led by BSP Governor Amando Tetangco, Jr. (left, first row). He said the awardees were chosen for their creativity, passion, and dedication in instilling among their students the habit of saving, prudent spending, and how to earn and grow their money. In his message, Education Secretary Br. Armin Luistro said the K to 12 program is the perfect platform to leapfrog the value of financial awareness and wise spending early on in the lives of our students. The integration of financial lessons in the school curriculum is part of the BSP's program to develop an inclusive financial system that supports inclusive growth.
