In celebration of its 23rd anniversary, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) will host the 2016 Awards Ceremony and Appreciation Lunch for BSP Stakeholders in Region VIII who have continuously supported its statistical initiatives, information requirements, and advocacy programs. The event will be held on Tuesday, 13 September 2016, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Multi-Purpose Hall, BSP Tacloban Branch, Tacloban City. This year’s event focuses on the theme “Sustained Partnership, Sustained Economic Growth,” which is descriptive of the BSP’s continuous collaboration with its stakeholders in gearing the economy towards an inclusive and resilient growth. Monetary Board Member Valentin A. Araneta will lead in honoring this year’s awardees and stakeholders.
The BSP will confer awards to six outstanding partners: for the Information Support category—two for the Business Expectations Survey (BES), and one for Sources of Information for the Report on Regional Economic Developments; and for the Advocacy Support category—one for Financial Learning Campaign and two for the Currency Programs of the BSP.
The Outstanding Respondent among Large and Medium Firms and the Outstanding Respondent among Small Firms will be awarded to the BES respondents selected from among the country’s top corporations in Region VIII who have participated regularly in the survey by providing timely, complete, accurate and consistent responses. The Outstanding Partner for Sources of Information for the Report on Regional Economic Developments will be given to the agency or institution that provided the BSP with information support for an effective environment scan of Region VIII. The Outstanding Partner for Financial Learning Campaign will be given to the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) regional office that has supported the BSP’s financial learning campaigns for overseas Filipinos and their beneficiaries in Region VIII. Meanwhile, the Outstanding Regional Partner for Currency Programs will be given to the agency or institution that supported the BSP’s currency programs and advocacies in Region VIII such as the Clean Note Policy and Demonetization of the New Design Series.
This occasion is the tenth of the BSP’s regional stakeholders’ events which will be held from July to September 2016 in 12 areas outside the National Capital Region to honor stakeholders in various award categories. Stakeholders of the BSP in the National Capital Region were earlier recognized during the awards ceremony held last 13 July 2016 at the BSP Main Complex, Manila.
This event is expected to further strengthen the partnership between the BSP and its stakeholders, resulting in a more efficient and effective means of information gathering and conduct of advocacy campaigns to achieve the BSP’s ultimate goal of safeguarding price stability and promoting a healthy financial system as well as ensuring an efficient payments and settlement system in the country.
