The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas launched two books last week: Philippine Central Banking: A Strategic Journey to Stability held by BSP Governor Amando M. Tetangco, Jr. (right) and LIKHA: Enduring Legacies of Filipino Artistry held by Deputy Governor (DG) Nestor A. Espenilla, Jr. (left). The first book was written by BSP’s top officials with broad and deep experience in the science and the art of central banking: Governor Tetangco; DG Espenilla; DG Diwa C. Guinigundo; Assistant Governor (AG) Ma. Ramona GDT Santiago; AG Johnny Noe Ravalo; AG Dahlia D. Luna; Managing Director Francisco Dakila, Jr.; and former DG Vicente S. Aquino. LIKHA celebrates our heritage by showcasing the BSP’s decorative arts collection which include intriguing pre-Hispanic pottery, finely-crafted Hispanic gold, expressive religious art, exquisite embroidery and cleverly designed furniture. Together, the books provide a better understanding of who we are as a people, what we have achieved and what we can achieve -- lessons that can help us be better and stronger for the future.
