For the week-ending 2 December 2005, FCDU deposits slightly declined from the previous week. They settled at $15.297 billion from $15.408 billion for the week-ending 25 November 2005.
These were lower by $0.11 billion or 0.72 percent from their $15.408 billion level the previous week. Nonetheless, these were P0.505 billion larger than their lowest level over a 52-week period, i.e., $14.792 billion on 31 May 2005. The net increase over the year would have been higher without the net decline resulting from fluctuating trends during the periods: 24 June to 29 July 2005 (5 weeks) and 09 September to 28 October 2005 (7 weeks). The net decline in the 5-week period amounted to $0.269 billion while the latter period resulted to a $0.232 billion contraction in FCDU deposits.
FCDU deposits continued to be primarily held by resident corporate borrowers. They accounted for 93.88 percent or $14.361 billion of the total FCDU deposits for the week.
