FCDU Deposits Hit a New Peak at $15.922 Billion

01.10.2006

FCDU deposits grew by 3.05 percent (0r by $0.472 billion) to $15.922 billion as of 16 December 2005 from $15.450 billion the previous week.  This is the new highest level recorded for the year.  The previous peak was at $15.710 billion posted for the week ending 18 March 2005.

This growth is also the largest week-on-week increment over the past two 92) years both in terms of absolute amounts and rate of increase.  The relatively substantial increase in FCDU deposits was primarily driven by additions to resident corporate accounts and partly to increased placements of non-residents, particularly those of foreign banks.
