The Non-Performing Loans (NPL) ratio of KBs slightly rose to 15.38 percent from the previous month’s 15.19 percent as the 0.44 percent decrease in NPLs to P256.80 billion was outmatched by the 1.63 percent decline in Total Loan Portfolio (TLP). Net of Interbank Loans (IBL), NPL ratio slightly moved up to 17.97 percent from 17.94 last month as regular lending activities (i.e., TLP, net of IBL) declined by 0.60 percent to P1,429.31 billion.
Likewise, the Non-Performing Assets (NPA) ratio inched up to 13.61 percent from 13.35 percent last month as NPAs expanded by 0.10 percent to P445.37 billion.
This month’s NPL and NPA ratios, nonetheless, were still lower compared to a year ago’s NPL and NPA ratios of 18.06 percent and 14.51 percent, respectively.
Gross Restructured Loans (RL) to TLP rose to 8.09 percent from 7.93 percent last month as RLs grew by 0.44 percent to P136.58 billion. Real and Other Properties Owned or Acquired (ROPOA) to Total Assets also went up to 5.88 percent from 5.70 percent last month as ROPOA grew by 1.31 percent to P193.36 billion.
The uptrend in both NPL and NPA coverage ratios continued. The NPL coverage ratio stood at 51.33 percent from 50.64 percent last month and from 47.32 percent a year ago, while the NPA coverage ratio rose to 32.57 percent from 32.32 percent last month and from 31.80 percent a year ago.
