Convert Your Old EMU Money to Pesos Now

People with banknotes from 12 countries of the European Economic and Monetary Union (EMU) have until January 25, 2002 to convert these into pesos at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP). The BSP started accepting these currencies for conversion to pesos in October 1, 2001.

The national currencies and their countries of origin are:

These countries are retiring their national currencies in lieu of a single European currency called the Euro. The new currency became legal tender on January 1, 2002.

As a public service, BSP opened a special window to convert these currencies to pesos at its Cash Dept. in Manila (Monday-Friday, 9:00AM-12:00NN and 1:00-2:00PM). In the provinces, the public can exchange these national currencies in the cash units of the BSP regional branches:

After January 25, 2002, bearers of these currencies are advised to send these directly to the country of origin for redemption.
