Dinner Remarks for BIS-BSP Research Conference

Date: 08.18.2019

Place: Metropolitan Museum of Manila

Occasion: BIS-BSP Research Conference

Speaker: Governor Benjamin E. Diokno

Members of the Monetary Board,  Assistant Governor Christian Hawkesby of New Zealand, Our keynote speaker Professor Ricardo Reis of the LSE,  Our friends from the academe and my fellow central bankers, good evening.

On behalf of the Monetary Board, it is my pleasure to warmly welcome you to Manila and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.

Starting tomorrow, we can look forward to a full schedule of paper presentations culminating in a panel discussion on “Central Bank policy under changing inflation dynamics: Challenges for the Asia-Pacific.” For now, please enjoy the vaunted hospitality of the Filipino, of which the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas is no exception.

Our venue, the Metropolitan Museum of the BSP, showcases the leading edge of Philippine art and the full richness of Philippine history and culture. It currently features “The City Who Had Two navels,” a homecoming exhibition of the re-created Philippine Pavillion at the 2018 International Architecture Exhibition of the Venice Biennale by noted Filipino architect Edson Cabalfin. In this setting, as we share highlights of Philippine cuisine, we will be entertained by select talents from the staff of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.

Once again, on behalf of the Monetary Board, I welcome you all to the Bangko Sentral ng PIlipinas. Thank you for joining us this evening. Let us enjoy the rest of the evening.

Mabuhay!
