Learning Events
As the BSP's focal point of contact of the public on public information concerning economic and financial matters, the Economic and Financial Learning Office (EFLO) conducts various learning events
The Financial Education Stakeholders Expo is a flagship financial education event convened annually by the BSP. The Expo gathers more than 1,000 partners, stakeholders and advocates from public and private institutions. It serves as a venue for sharing initiatives, challenges, opportunities and lessons learned in the financial education space. The Expo aims to ensure synergy of financial education programs and encourage productive public-private partnerships. Through the Expo, the BSP aims to build an organized network of advocates imbued with the shared vision and collective responsibility of implementing sustainable and effective financial education programs. The Expo supports celebrations of the Economic and Financial Learning Week under Republic Act (RA) No. 10922 and aligns with the objective of establishing a “Matatag, maginhawa at panatag na buhay” for all Filipinos under AmBisyon Natin 2040.
The Economic and Financial Learning Program (EFLP) is the flagship program for delivering directly key messages on economics and finance to target stakeholders, specifically the general public. It was launched in July 2010 with the objective to provide information services, programs, and materials to present the work of the BSP and its role in the Philippine economy, as well as to promote greater understanding of essential economic concepts and issues. The EFLP covers the conduct of BSP-initiated learning sessions for different audience types in different localities and on-demand requests for lectures from various schools, government agencies, private institutions, and other interested parties.
EFLP topics and key messages will mainly focus on the following:

Economic education– learning activities are designed to promote the public’s deeper appreciation and understanding of the core functions of the BSP with greater focus on communicating its monetary policy decisions and how these actions influence individuals’ economic decisions. When the public understands their central bank’s roles and responsibilities, they will view the BSP as a trusted and credible monetary authority.

Financial education– learning activities provide the public with basic knowledge on personal finance management and how related decisions are being influenced by BSP’s policy actions.

Priority initiatives - topics relating to financial inclusion (with a focus on account opening among Filipino youth and students), digitalization, sustainable central banking, proper handling of banknotes and coins, cyberhygiene will continue to be highlighted in the major EFLP and stand-alone learning sessions. For consistency of messaging, EFLO will develop an outline/curriculum to be discussed for offerings under these priority initiatives.
EFLP target participants are those representing the Filipino household (HH) sector as represented by the working members, small business owners, and students.

Session for the Acadame
24 - 25 April 2024
This year’s Economic and Financial Learning Program dedicated for the academe will have two learning sessions: 1) for college students, and 2) for educators (including those from BSP partners) and librarians (particularly those from BSP's Knowledge Resource Network or KRN partner institutions). The learning sessions for the two-day program will be held simultaneously in person and virtually, via Zoom and can be watched live thru the
BSP's PisoLit Facebook page to reach as wide an audience possible.

Topic Description
The Office conducts learning sessions covering the following topics: -
CORE FUNCTIONS OF THE BANGKO SENTRAL NG PILIPINAS (BSP). Explains the relevance of performing BSP’s core functions (promoting price stability, financial stability, and
efficient payments and settlements system) and how it contributes to the economy as well as affects individuals in a collective manner.

PERSONAL FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT. Emphasizes the value of establishing prudent financial plans through saving and budgeting, accumulating assets, managing debt, safeguarding digital financial transactions, and exercising one’s rights and responsibilities as a financial consumer.

OTHER CENTRAL-BANKING TOPICS. Other topics within the purview of the BSP such as, but not limited to,
Monetary Policy, Philippine Financial System, Digital Payments Transformation, Virtual Assets, and
Currency Management can be requested.

Duration
The learning session duration is
approximately two (2) hours, covering the presentation and open forum.

Mode of Delivery
This may be delivered through
virtual,
in-person, or
simultaneous face-to-face and virtual modalities depending on the requirements of the requesting institution, health, and security conditions. For
virtual sessions. - BSP-hosted sessions use
Zoom as webinar platform.
For
in-person sessions. - Sessions can be requested within the National Capital Region (NCR) or outside NCR, subject to assessment

Learning sessions are conducted on the following days and time slots: -
Mondays to Fridays (except during public holidays and when coinciding with special BSP activities/events)

10:00 AM or 2:00 PM
Participants are requested to be at the venue
(for in-person sessions) or log-in to the webinar platform (for virtual sessions) at least 15 minutes ahead of schedule. |

Participants
To ensure an enriching learning experience, we recommend a
minimum grade level of 11 (senior high school students) and the following
minimum attendance: For
virtual sessions.
For
in-person sessions. - If within the
National Capital Region (NCR) - one hundred fifty (150) participants
- If
outside NCR - three hundred (300) participants
This cumulative requirement applies to the entire event, whether conducted in one or two days or across multiple sessions. |

Reservation and Processing Time
The conduct of the learning session is free but
reservation is required through the link below. We observe
minimum required lead time to process the learning session requests, subject to availability of resources:

NCR - ten (10) business days
- If
outside NCR - twenty (20) business days
*Processing time may be affected by the EFLO’s collaboration with BSP departments/offices and speaker/s’ availability for topics beyond EFLO’s scope. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this regard. |
