National Heritage Month 2024
The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas highlights the “Dekada ng Kulturang Pilipino” Commemorative Coin released in 1989 in support of the decade-long celebration of Filipino culture from 1988 to 1998. In accordance with Proclamation No. 329, s. 1988, this declaration was in consonance with the World Decade for Cultural Development observance from 1988 to 1997 led by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). It also coincided with the celebration “Decade of the Centennial of Filipino Nationalism, Nationhood, and the Philippine Revolutionary movement” which was a build up to the Centennial Celebration of Philippine Independence in 1998.
100th Birth Anniversary of Jeremias Navarro
The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas celebrates the centennial birth anniversary of Jeremias Elizalde Navarro, National Artist for Visual Arts (1990), famously known as J. Elizalde Navarro.
113th Birth Anniversary of Hernando Ocampo
The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) celebrates the 113th Birth Anniversary of Hernando R. Ocampo or HR Ocampo.
82nd Birthday of BenCab
The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas celebrates the 82nd birthday of National Artist for Visual Arts Benedicto Cabrera. Known to many as BenCab, Benedicto Cabrera is a renowned artist of different media—painting, photography, printmaking, and draftsmanship. Born in Malabon, Bencab started creating art at a young age, under the guidance of his older brother Salvador.
To honor the 82nd Araw ng Kagitingan and the heroes of the Fall of Bataan, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) features the 1967 Bataan Day Commemorative Coin.
The coin featured a broken sword in flames, with laurel leaves on both sides. The inscription, “25TH ANNIVERSARY OF BATAAN DAY” and “1942 – 1967” are seen on its obverse. The reverse, on the other hand, has the seal of the Philippine Republic; the inscription, “REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES;” and the denomination, “ONE PESO.”
107th Birth Anniversary of Cesar Legaspi
The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) celebrates the 107th birth anniversary of Cesar Legaspi, a pioneer of the neo-realist movement in the Philippines.
Commemorating the Martyrdom of GOMBURZA
To commemorate the martyrdom of GOMBURZA, the BSP minted the 150-Piso GOMBURZA coin that was released in 2023.
88th Birth Anniversary of Imao
The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas celebrates the 88th Birth Anniversary of Abdulmari Imao - National Artist for Visual Arts. Imao was the first artist from Mindanao to receive this prestigious recognition in 2006.

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) joins the nation in commemorating the 150th anniversary of the martyrdom of Fathers Mariano Gomes de los Angeles, Jose Burgos, and Jacinto Zamora, collectively known as GOMBURZA.
National Artist Series: Napoleon "Billy" Veloso Abueva
The BSP remembers the birth anniversary of National Artist for Sculpture Napoleon Abueva on this day, 26 January. In 1976, he became the youngest recipient of the title National Artist and is considered the Father of Modern Philippine Sculpture.

The BSP celebrates the birth anniversary of National Artist for Painting Vicente Silva Manansala.
