Session for the Academe
29 - 30 April 2025


 

This year’s Economic and Financial Learning Program dedicated for the academe will have two learning sessions: 1) for students, and 2) for educators. The learning sessions for the two-day program will be held simultaneously in person and virtually, via Zoom and can be watched live thru the BSP's PisoLit Facebook page to reach as wide an audience possible.

Discussion 1: BSP’s Role in the Economy and Financial Literacy for Students.This session will provide an overview of the BSP’s core central banking functions and how these influence the broader economy. It will also highlight how understanding these concepts can help students make informed personal financial decisions.

Discussion 2:Understanding the Economy to Improve Your Financial Planning. This session will help students understand key economic indicators—such as inflation, interest rates, and GDP—and how they affect every day financial decisions. By recognizing how these indicators reflect the state of the economy, students can make smarter choices when it comes to saving, spending, and planning for their financial future.

Discussions 1:How Financial Behavior Drives Economic Growth.This session will explore how personal financial decisions—such as saving, spending, and borrowing—can have a broader economic impact. Educators will gain insights into how their financial choices, as well as the financial behavior they teach, contribute to the overall economy.

Discussions 2: Basics of Investing .This discussion covers the basics of investing, from how inflation affects investments to choosing the right financial instruments. Participants will learn about risk-return trade-offs, assessing risk appetite, and key dos and don’ts for smart investing.

Discussions 3: Investing in the Government. This discussion explores how individuals can invest in government securities, such as Retail Treasury Bonds (RTBs) and Treasury Bills (T-bills). Participants will learn how these low-risk investments work, their benefits, and how they contribute to national development while growing personal wealth.
