Module 1. Financial Planning. This module gives an overview of what financial planning is, and provides practical tips and tools in making a basic financial plan.
Module 2. Saving and Budgeting. This module discusses reasons for saving, tips for successful saving, time value of money, the importance of saving in formal financial institutions, types of deposit products of banks, and other saving options. It also talks about budgeting as a crucial component of financial planning and provides practical budgeting techniques and tips.
Module 3. Debt Management. This module focuses on responsible borrowing and prudent debt management. It also discusses the responsibilities of a borrower and the duties of a creditor, in accordance with the Truth in Lending Act and applicable BSP regulations.
Module 4. Basics of Investing. This module teaches the basics of investing. It provides an overview of inflation in the context of investing, but focuses on typical financial investment instruments available in the market, the risk return trade-off principle, and simple assessment of risk appetite. The module also briefly covers the differentiation between investments and insurance, and provides some dos and donts when investing.
Module 5. Fraud and Scam Prevention. This module identifies common types of financial typical fraud and scams. It emphasizes vigilance, outlines tips on how to guard against fraudulent schemes, and what to do in case victimized by scammers.
Module 6. Consumer Protection. This module presents the roles and responsibilities of financial consumers, the BSP Financial Consumer Protection Framework and Consumer Assistance Mechanism, with emphasis that the first point of contact for financial consumers when there are concerns about their accounts or transactions are their own financial institutions.
